Verus Catholic Explained

What are you about?

Life in your twenties and thirties can be unpredictable. One day there is the excitement of a first job, then a few weeks later wanderlust kicks in and you have planned out a carefree life on a boat in Cancun. So many things can happen in such a short time; friends change, moves happen, careers shift, but through it all the Cross stands still. Amid such turmoil we all need an anchor, and Christ is that perfect fixed point that can lead us through these years of growth and transition. The Church is making huge strides in bridging the gap between young adults and living a life of faith. We are here to help continue making it easier for young adults to encounter, grow, and witness a relationship with Christ.

There are plenty of ministry organizations for the Catholic Church to reach many different people. When it comes to young adults, the organizations and resources are scarce. Verus Catholic was founded to start filling the need to support the progress in young adult ministry. We are here to provide necessary discussions on best practice in ministry, train leaders in how to create sustainable ministry, and then to put relevant resources into the hands of those same people. Everything we do as a ministry is specific to supporting the spiritual needs of young adults whether through the diocese, the parish, or the individual.

What do you do?

Going forward, we will post blogs regularly that promote deeper conversations on personal faith and practical ministry. Soon we will be launching subscription options for parishes to have access to a variety of published resources for training and events. Everything we release will be part of an ever-evolving dialogue in improving the landscape of young adult ministry. We will constantly be updating and adding to our resources. What we put in the hands of leaders and individuals will be distinctly Catholic and compassionate to the many life dynamics of young adults.

Our contributors come from a variety of backgrounds to give us a comprehensive vision for our ministry. We are equipped and ready to walk with you and your personal ministry. You don’t need to go it alone, nor should you. Verus will help you craft and sustain young adult ministry for your local area. We will help you process the challenges and the successes so you can build and grow your apostolate.

But How?

In developing our vision, two things became clear. First, we want to be a support for local ministry. We are not here to take over your mission. We want to empower others in their field and walk with you through the hills and valleys. Second, we are not about overcomplicating the task at hand. We chose our name Verus Catholic to speak to the true and genuine nature of how we approach ministry. Throughout this site you will see our goals and methods repeated clearly, consistently, and simply. Our three goals are networking, training, and resources. Our ministry methods focus on life dynamics, formation, and ministry models. The lives of those you encounter are complicated enough, there is no need for ministry to add to that complexity. Our job is to help make your burden lighter.

Together, we can go forth and make disciples even in the most chaotic years of a person’s life. Together we can walk with these young adults out of the mess and into a deeper, more rooted relationship with Christ. Let the conversation begin.
